Notes on Vista (part II)

For a long time I was worried that the applications I was used to from XP would not work on Vista (save an upgrade at an unknown cost). However some works very well, like XanaNews (UseNet news reader), while others like ACDSee (image browser/viewer) which does need an upgrade (at least according to the makers website) have very able replacements in Vista already. For ACDSee it’s Vista Photo Gallery. And for once Microsoft has got it right: tags are not placed in some database or hidden files or whatever, they are incorporated in the image itself by using the XMP meta data format. Have a look at this video to see how Photo Gallery actually makes tagging and using the tags a real benefit.

Now, if only Vista DVD Maker was half as capable…
